STEEN ANDERSEN

Since 2002 Mr. Andersen is part of the international architecture company Henning Larsen Architects.

As a facade specialist, Mr. Andersen has participated in the design of numerous building projects and has vast supervision experience. He was responsible for the design of the unique quasi brick facades of Harpa - Reykjavik Concert Hall and Conference Centre. The design of the spectacular facades, as the rest of the building, is inspired by nature. Seen from the foyer, the halls form a mountain-like massif that similar to basalt rock on the coast forms a stark contrast to the expressive and open facade.

The other significant project of Steen Andersen is the 34-storey tower - Villas in the Sky in Saudi Arabia. He has developed a curtain wall glass facade for the building and led the research and development of an innovative facade design that will transfer solar energy for heating and cooling the building, which is expected to achieve a LEED Certified or Silver rating. The angled panels of the facade allow the use of transparent glazing while a sloping light-colored cladding reduces the energy consumption of the building.
